No trip to Taiwan is complete without taking in the unforgettable views from Alishan.
After getting to Chiayi by regular or high-speed rail, the Taiwan Shuttle Bus can take you to the world-famous Alishan.
The Alishan National Forest Recreation Area is one of the must-visit spots for tourists coming to Taiwan, even if you don��t have time for a long stay, there��s some views that you simply can��t miss out on.
After arriving at Alishan, the first thing to do is to buy tickets to ride the mountain��s railway.
The 71.4-kilometer-long Alishan Forest Railway opened in 1912, and quickly became Taiwan��s most internationally famous railways. Though they��re not fast, trains on the lines run from the lowlands of Chiayi up to the top of Alishan itself, The slow pace allows riders on the trains to appreciate the many changes in the surrounding forest scenery.
Every season on Alishan brings a new type of beauty. Right now it��s cherry blossom season. Look��!So beautiful��!
Surrounded by nature, we get a perspective on how small we really are. It��s a saying that perfectly describes Alishan��s sacred trees.
This tree, called ��Sianglin Sacred Tree��, was selected by popular vote as the biggest Formosan cypress on Alishan. It��s over 2,300 years old�K
Before Sianglin Sacred Tree, this was the biggest tree on Alishan, but in July 1997, it split and fell to the ground from damage sustained over several days of heavy rain.
When I was little, I came to see the tree. Now it looks much different. But looking at it from another angle, it may wanted to take a rest after standing here for more than 3,000 years.
On Alishan, you can really sense the cycle of life, death, and rebirth that��s part of nature. The spot we��re going to visit now is a perfect example of that.
It��s five o��clock in the morning, Alishan Station is full of people. Why aren��t we all still in bed on this cold day? Because we��re all going to see the sunrise��
The sunrises on Alishan are Taiwan��s most beautiful, but the mountain has an average of 209 rainy days per year, and 244 days per year with fog.
So exciting right now, so many tourists with me, hope we are lucky to see the sunrise
So those who only spend one night here have to rely on a bit of luck to actually see the sun come up.
