Especially if you like photography, you��re definitely
going to leave your worries behind while you��re here.
Yeah.
And I thought, since you��re a professional film director,
and a photographer, perhaps you��d like to share some
tips?
Sure, it��s my pleasure. You know when you are in a
place like this, there��s so much nature, so much beauty
around, you want to capture the maximum of that, so
what you want to use is a wide angle lens. Now, how
do you know your lens is wide angle? There's usually
a number associated with your lens, and the lower
the number, the wider the lens. For instance, what
is yours?
This is a 16-35mm.
See? 16mm is very low, it means your angle is very
wide.
Yeah, so you can kind of suck everything into the
lens.
Exactly.
And into the camera.
So what kind of pictures are you taking today?
Well, I really like ponds and puddles, the reason
being they give you good reflections. Reflections
create a dreamlike, a painting-like effect. So today
I'm going to focus on not what's above the ground,
but what��s right on the surface.
Excellent idea.
You��re shooting black and white!
Yeah, because the place is very beautiful, also kind
of desolate, so what I��m trying to do with black and
white, I want to retain some of the dramatic mood,
the dramatic ambiance.
Cedric, when people say that Taiwan has beautiful
landscape, to a lot of people, the first thing that
comes to mind is Hualien or Taitung. But I think Nantou
really has something going for itself. Look at this
beautiful bamboo forest, and this is just a tiny,
tiny piece of it.
Yeah, and not only is it very beautiful, it's also
much, much less touristy. Look around, it��s just us.
Just us, and the spiders.
