Come Bikeday

Michella, so many bikes. What are we riding today?
Road bikes, mountain bikes, folding bikes…electric bikes.
Oh electric bikes. My back says “thank you.” Oh look!
Cedric you’ve never been to Sun Moon Lake before, right?
No, but I’ve been wanting to come since I first came to Taiwan.
OK, well every year there’s this fantastic cycling event here called “Come Bikeday.” There’s a course that’s 50km long, there’s a course that’s 30km long, so I thought I’d give you a preview of Sun Moon Lake and cycling around Sun Moon Lake.
When you say “preview,” you mean just one or two kilometers long, right?
We’ll see. You’ll find out.
Michella, how big is the lake?
The lake is 29km around, including all the nice little bicycle paths in between.
Easy peasy with those beasts.
Yeah, and you get to enjoy the view from different angles as well. But there’s one danger.
A danger?
Of going too fast and missing everything.
Ah it’s ok, it’s a lake, you can always have another go around.
You can go around twice, three times, maybe?
As many as you wish.
Hello, do you need any help?
I think we’re OK, thank you!
Who are these young men?
These are the mobile tourist information boys, but in addition to information, if you’re lost, if you’ve hurt yourself, or if there’s something wrong with your bike, they can help you with that as well.
You mean if I feel a little bit lost in my life, they’ll help me?
I don’t know if they can help, but they will try.
Very fine, fine young men.
Michella, why do we take the ferry when we have our bikes?
Because it makes it more fun and we can.
Very good reason indeed.
What was your impression of Sun Moon Lake?
I don’t know, gorgeous, breathtaking, I don't know if I have the vocabulary or the adjectives to describe how beautiful the place is.
Yeah. What about cycling?
Well, cycling, you know I’m not exactly an athlete myself but with those little beasts, the electric bikes, it gives a new meaning to cycling, it is a real pleasure.
