Rafting Triathion

I・ve been rafting on the Siouguluan River at least twice. It・s always a lot of fun, but so much work. Carol, our associate producer assures me that it・ll be different this time, because we・re doing a rafting triathlon. Oh boy.
Stuck in a boat with people who have no idea how to row, when this happens, you pick a fight, a water fight.
Hey you bunch of pirates, give us back our friend Nawa!
From Kashmir, India, Nawa has been in Taiwan for the last eight months studying Chinese. Her Chinese is great, but let・s see how well she swims...
Don・t be afraid. Come on.
Oh we・re so mean!
It・s really, really nice. It・s so...how do you say, so...
Really nice, huh? Let・s do it again!
There are seven places in the first half of the course where the water flows especially fast.
Next we have 11km to run.
Running through indigenous villages, along winding mountain roads, the scenery is so interesting you forget how funny or slow you might be going.
And if you manage to complete this leg of the triathlon, next you hop on a bike and cycle 44km to finish.
The nice thing about looking like a couple of housewives going grocery shopping on these things with baskets installed in front is, we can do whatever we want, stop wherever we want and really soak in the breathtaking scenery. Mountains, oceans, rivers and caves...Hualien is probably one of the best places in Taiwan to do a triathlon.
Oh it was so awesome. It was really exciting. Especially the scenery. In Taiwan there are really thick mountains and very thick trees.
