Ceremonies and songs are performed regularly, but if you’re into hands-on types of activities, you can roast peanuts...

...and even make a glutinous rice wrap of marinated pork, dried shrimp, wine, sesame oil, salt, white pepper and other spices.
How does it taste?
It’s interesting how the leaf transferred its taste to the glutinous rice.
Ah.

And the meat, you can really taste the marinade.
There’s a little bit of rice wine in there too. It gives it a special...aroma. Wow, this is interesting.

One of the nice things about visiting indigenous areas is the shopping that you can do. The handicrafts are quite unique. These are Paiwan glass beads.
We have lots of designs, this is just one of them. This is the peacock bead. Young lovers from upper class families used to exchange these to express their feelings for each other.

The color is more obvious when it cools.
What’s even nicer is that some of the craftsmen are willing to take the time to explain to you the story behind their art.

What I will remember most of this trip is when we went to visit those glass beads made by the Paiwan tribe. The craft they have is just wonderful. I got a bead myself, which is the peacock. And I learned about bead craftsmanship and I think it is just wonderful.

布農部落。

台東有不少的原住民族群包括布農族。每一個族群都有自己的文化和獨特又精采的祭典。而這一個布農族的文化中心幾乎隨時都能跟大家分享族人的生活方式,還有祭典儀式。
祭典和歌唱表演都定時演出,不過如果想動動手,可以來炒一炒花生。
...還有包月桃飯。裡面有糯米,五花肉,蝦米,米酒,香油,鹽,白胡椒和其他香料。
吃起來怎麼樣?

蠻有趣的,葉子的香味跑到糯米上面。
嗯。
肉呢,吃得出醃漬的醬料。
裡面還有點米酒,所以有種特別的...香味。哇,有趣。

來到部落一個優點是,這裡購物的選擇很獨特,尤其是手工藝。像這就是排灣族的琉璃珠。

我們的圖案很多,這是其中一種。像我做的孔雀之珠,以前是貴族的定情之物。附在上面就是剛剛抽下來的細絲。
哇。

等它慢慢降溫,顏色慢慢就會出來了。

更好的是,這邊有些藝術家很樂意分享作品背後的故事。

這次的旅遊,我印象最深刻的是去看那個排灣琉璃工作室。他們的手工藝真的很讚。我現在也有一顆琉璃珠了,而且是孔雀之珠。我觀察到琉璃手工藝,我覺得真的很讚。。
