Sun Moon Lake Tea Egg
Hunt
It's always exciting to
hear that we're getting
to go to Sun Moon Lake
again. Even though there's
only one lake and one
road that goes around
the it, there are tons
of ways to enjoy the area.
Today, we're cycling again.
Michella
Jade Weng, Host:
We've been to Sun
Moon Lake quite a
few times now, and
each time there is
a pleasant surprise.
But today we have
a special mission,
and that is to find
the two famous tea
egg places on opposite
sides of the lake
and see how they're
different. Ready to
go?
We're
setting off from Shuishe
this time, starting
from the new pathway
built literally on
the water.
The
round-the lake road
is 33 kilometers long.
I like to go clockwise,
so there are no cars
to get between the
pretty scenery and
myself.
Zou
Jin-pen, Tea egg shop
owner:
What's special about
us, is that we use
local Assam black
tea and mushrooms,
which are two of the
most famous things
in these parts.
The
mushrooms are a bit
salty, but the tea
eggs on the other
hand...
Michella
Jade Weng, Host:
Hm, it's not bad!
So
off we go to the next
station, and when
you hit crazy hills
like this, you can
keep telling yourself,
"you're almost
there."
This
is the Xiangshan Visitor
Center, composed of
what seems like just
two low, flat concrete
arches.
You
Jhao-min, Guide:
This building is the
visitor center. In
the back is our scenic
administration office.
In the future, there
will be a hotel back
there too. But through
the empty area under
the arches, you'll
still be able to see
Sun Moon Lake.
So
taken by the design,
I've almost forgotten
about our tea egg
assignment!
