Penghu Summer Festivals

Michella Jade Weng, host:
Hi everyone. Welcome to Time for Taiwan. My name is Michella Jade Weng. Every summer in Penghu, there is a series of fireworks performances. It's supposed to have ended by now, but due to popular demand, organizers have decided to put on an extra show.

Bursting in the air, into the shape of magnificent blooming flowers of nearly all the colors of the rainbow, for some people, this fireworks show marks a beautiful end to a perfect summer evening in Penghu.

While some try not to blink for fear of missing any part of the show, others could not stop snapping photographs and recording video of the entire event.

And when it was time to return to the hotel, almost no one wanted it to end, and just about all had smiles on their faces, the same kind people have when returning home after the countdown at New Year's.

Michella Jade Weng, host:
Just firework shows won't do, so there's also a music festival!

Every summer, in addition to fireworks shows, music festivals, swimsuit fashion shows and sand sculpture competitions, cultural activities including traditional ceremonies involving old fishing and boating methods are held, leaving visitors promising themselves to return for more next summer.
