Dapeng Bay Water Sports
Michella Jade Weng,
Host:
Hi everyone, welcome to
Time for Taiwan. My name
is Michella Jade Weng.
Dapeng Bay, Pingtung,
is one of the best kept
secrets for water sports
in Taiwan, but there are
also plenty of other things
to do in the area. And
a great way to get a preview
of that is by going up
in the air and getting
an aerial view.
During
a short, 10-minute
ride in a light-sport
aircraft, you can
see the coast, one
of the largest lagoons
in Taiwan, the bicycle
path that goes around
it and the country's
only movable bridge,
just built this year.
There
are only two legal
light-sport aircraft
bases in Taiwan, one
of which is this one.
Here, you can take
a tour in the sky,
or even learn how
to fly.C

So you ease the tricycle
slash ski contraption
into the water, push
and just keep jumping
and pumping. Its
much easier said than
done. After three
tries, I've only managed
to make it past the
dock.
Though
windsurfing hardly
looks any easier,
let's give it a try
anyway. OK, standing
up is not a problem,
well, not reallyK
Getting moving isn't
so difficult either,
but turning around
and coming back homeK
help!
Alright,
let's go do something
that I can leave to
the coach - sailing.
Since Dapeng Bay is
a lagoon, the waters
don't get too rough,
which is great for
water sport beginners.
And since it isn't
that popular yet,
there's plenty of
space for everyone.
If
you're not the sporting
type, you can always
just hire a boat and
enjoy the view. One
of the newest attractions
here is this movable
bridge that opens
up to let tall boats
in and out of the
lagoon.

From sashimi to grilled
fish heads, bluefin
tuna is served in
several ways here,
and its freshness
is sure to leave any
fish lover asking
for more. Good food,
lots of fun in, around
and over the bay,
and not that many
people, Dapeng Bay
really is one of the
little known jewels
of southern Taiwan.
